THE BAYTRUST RESCUE HELICOPTER
The Philips Search and Rescue Trust has operated
the Rotorua Rescue Helicopter since 1994. The current principal
sponsor is BayTrust, hence the name BayTrust Rescue Helicopter.
The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter is a 24/7 rescue
service (weather conditions permitting), situated on the
grounds of Rotorua Hospital. The service has been running
for ten years and provides medical and rescue services to
the wider Bay of Plenty region.
The Rescue Helicopter works closely with Police,
Fire, and St John Ambulance - the latter providing paramedic
staff when required. Missions range from serious motor vehicle,
farm and horse accidents, to inter-hospital transfers and
land/marine search and rescue.
Region
The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter operates from Rotorua to
all points throughout the Bay of Plenty, and sometimes
beyond, retrieving critically ill or injured people and
providing fast transportation to the Bay's three major
hospitals in Rotorua, Tauranga and Whakatane.
