A word from our major Funding Partner.
The Lion Foundation is proud to be the major Funding
Partner of the Taupo Rescue Helicopter. This service
touches the whole community by saving many lives annually.
The Lion Foundation is a charitable trust that exists
for the purpose of raising funds for the community.
The Lion Foundation owns gaming machines that are situated
in hotels, taverns and other licensed entertainment
venues throughout New Zealand. We operate 2,650 gaming
machines in 165 venues from the far North to the deep
South. All profits are returned in the form of grants
to community organisations for Authorised Purposes.
In the year to 31 March 2004, we returned over $56 million
to the New Zealand community.

BayTrust's prime objective is to help build, strengthen
and enhance Bay of Plenty communities. We believe that
the Philips Search and Rescue Trust, through its Taupo-
Rotorua- and Tauranga-based helicopters and pilots,
provides an essential top quality rescue service, available
to all the people and communities of the Bay, that literally
saves lives and helps achieve that objective. We are
delighted to support it.
As one of New Zealand 's leading energy companies,
Genesis is a great believer in giving back to the communities
in which it operates. The company's approach is to take
a lead role in areas where it is needed, and provide
support and backing in others. In this way, Genesis
contributes to as wide variety of initiatives, in many
different communities, while encouraging others to also
add their support.
The Philips Search and Rescue Trust is an example of
this approach. Genesis sponsors the Taupo rescue helicopter,
and has done since the company was formed in 1999.
As Genesis chairman Brian Corban said when Genesis Energy
became an official sponsor: "Genesis aims to look
after the well-being of the people of the region, and
also operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365
days a year, just as the rescue helicopter does."
Matt and Heater Purvis began Total Transport in Taupo
27 years ago with two trucks and a willingness to get
stuck in and give their clients good service. The company
now has 50 trucks, continuing the concept of good service
being the foundation of their business. So too is their
awareness that they are part of the central North Island
community, where they draw the most support from their
clientele.
"We chose the rescue helicopter as our major form
of sponsorship because our core clientele come from
the rural Rotorua-Taupo area, including the forests.
Many of these people are in back country areas. Every
year some of them are victims of accidents, and the
helicopter is the fastest way for them to get help in
an emergency," says Matt.
Total Transport recognises the worth of the service
in the region, and say that it's good to know that help
is there and readily available whenever you need it.

through the years ahead.
