Philips Search & Rescue Trust’s rescue helicopters do not receive any funding from the New Zealand Government. Your local rescue helicopter does have contracts with ACC, DHB and New Zealand Police, but this only covers 47% of the operating costs. This means 53% of this must come from the community. Without community support your rescue helicopter would not be able to remain operational on a 24/7, 365 basis, which would mean a serious delay in people being rescued, or transported to and from hospital facilities for urgent treatment.

Fundraise for Us
Holding an event or organising a fundraising drive for your local rescue helicopter is both rewarding and challenging. We are extremely grateful for all community support received.

Talks & Group Visits
We are delighted when Clubs, Groups and Schools want to help or learn more about the work Philips Search and Rescue Trust performs in your community. There are a variety of means to get involved and support your local rescue helicopter. Scheduled hangar visits are a popular way to discover more about the life-saving work undertaken by the helicopter and crew. Organising a fundraiser is always welcome and a great way to increase awareness and raise money to support your local base.

With the average cost of a mission over $8,000, your support is essential to keep this life-saving service in the air.
Become a Friend of the Rescue Helicopter today, for as little as $45 a year. We will keep you up-to-date with our missions, safety advice, information about our crews and equipment through our newsletters, social media and website. Your donation goes directly to the rescue helicopter in your region.
You will also receive a membership certificate and a bumper sticker so you can proudly display your support.
Remember that donations to charitable trusts like ours also qualify for a 33.33% tax rebate. We will provide you with a tax receipt for your donation.

Rural Friends Membership
Similar to our Friends membership but with extended cover of your farm workers and their households living on the farm.
It costs as little as $120 a year to join our Rural Friend of the Rescue Helicopter programme to help keep your local helicopter in the air providing a vital emergency service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. After all, you never know when you or your family might require our services. Funds received go directly to the Rescue Helicopter in your region.
You will also receive a fridge magnet membership card & certificate to display on your farm with your GPS coordinates to ensure that our crew can find you in an emergency when time is critical.

The Philips Search & Rescue Trust’s rescue helicopters can be airborne in 10 minutes, and in a life and death situation, this speed and agility can make all the difference. It is the timely assistance that the rescue helicopters provides that can reduce disability and improve survival - the sooner resuscitation and treatment begins the greater chance of patient recovery.
