At 6am on Sunday the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the small township of Mataikona. It was an overcast flight to the isolated location, the flight took the crew 30 minutes.
A 68-year-old male was suffering a medical event at his seaside bach. The crew was able to land on the front lawn, making for close acces.
The onboard Intensive Care Paramedic treated the man at the scene before airlifting him to Palmerston Hospital.
