The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to back-to-back medical emergencies on the evening of Sunday 14 January.
The first callout was to the township of Danniverke, where a 9-month-old boy had a taken a fall in his family home. The boy and his mother were airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital with the onboard paramedic for treatment.
Following this, the rescue helicopter was then dispatched to Hautere, to an 11-year-old boy who required urgent hospital treatment. The young boy had a known medical condition. He was stablised at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to Wellington Hospital for further treatment.
