Bus roll near Mamaku, three rescue helicopters dispatched

On Wednesday morning just after 11:30am the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter, Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Greenlea Rescue Helicopter were all dispatched to a bus that had rolled in bad weather off State Highway 5, near Waiohotu Rd and Galaxy Rd, Mamaku.

A bus has rolled, carrying more than 20 people on board.

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter airlifted one patient back to Waikato Hospital shortly after 1pm, followed by the Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter and the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter who both have flown patients from the scene.

The Bell222 from Waikato was also dispatched to Rotorua shortly after the accident. Four Philips Search and Rescue rescue helicopter responded to the accident.
