The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Levin at3am on Friday 22 July for a 5-year-old with a medical emergency. She was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted, along with her Mum, to Wellington Hospital for specialist treatment. The mission was flown with the aid of Night Vision Goggles.
At 2:30 that afternoon, the helicopter was dispatched again, this time to Te Horo for a man in his 50’s who had been injured after he was hit by a steer. He was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
