The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on Tuesday 30 January at 11 am to Matamau where two vehicles had been involved in a head-on collision. The road was closed by NZ Fire Service to allow for the rescue helicopter to land at the scene of the accident.
The male driver of one of the vehicles sustained chest injuries. He was stabilised at the scene by the onboard paramedic before being transferred to Palmerston North Hospital for treatment.
The rescue helicopter was dispatched again on Wednesday 31 January at 11 am to Norswood, where a vehicle towing a trailer left the road and hit a tree.
