Coromandel motor vehicle accident

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched on Saturday 24 September, to the village of Tapu, on the Coromandel Peninsula.

The rescue helicopter was tasked, along with the NZ Fire Service, to rescue of the passengers of a vehicle that left the road, ending up down a steep embankment.

The crash occurred approximately 1 kilometre from the summit.

Two passengers were rescued from the wreck, then transported to Thames Hospital via ambulance.
