At midday, on Monday the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter (Air1) was dispatched to a remote farm in Te Miro, a small community in the Waipa District of the Waikato Region.
A 1-year old girl was having difficulty breathing and require immediate transport to Waikato Hospital. Her respiratory difficulties came as she had shallowed a nut that became lodged in her throat.
Upon entering the Emergency Department at Waikato Hospital the young girl managed to cough up the nut and was able to breathe without assistance.
