GJ Gardner pledge for every home built

Included in their Service Promise GJ Gardner states; ‘[we] take the worry out of building’ and now the Rotorua/South Waikato Franchise is helping to ‘take the worry’ from those in need of the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter.

In early 2015 the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter Hangar was the location for the NZME BA5, a business networking function run by the local Chamber of Commerce.   Philips Search and Rescue Trust (operators of the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter) Fundraising Manager, Ammie Hardie, challenged those businesses in attendance to ‘think outside the square when considering a Corporate Donation to the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter.

One attendee took up that challenge and made the commitment then and there to pledge $1,000 from every contract signed within the coming financial year to the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter.

‘We hear how much the rescue helicopter needs funds and we wondered what we could do to help.  When we sat down and thought about it, we decided to donate one thousand dollars from each contract we signed.  Hopefully we have a great year and that, in turn, will benefit the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter’, said Graham Griffin, GJ Gardner Homes Managing Director, Rotorua/South Waikato Franchise.

GJ Gardner has been offering New Zealander’s the perfect house for nearly 20 years and with the Rotorua/South Waikato Franchise aiming to sign 15 contracts this financial year potential users of the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter stand to benefit significantly.

‘We chose the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter because it really doesn’t discriminate against anyone; it is for everybody in the community and so we felt that it is one of the most deserving Trusts.’

Hardie is excited about the new relationship; ‘we couldn’t ask for a more generous and enthusiastic company to partner with.  The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter relies on the community for over 50 percent of its operational costs and GJ Gardner’s Rotorua/South Waikato Franchise recognise the value of this life-saving service.’

In 2014 alone, the BayTrust Rescue Helicopter performed 147 potentially life saving missions throughout the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty regions.

Your support ensures rescue helicopters are available to your community.
Your rescue helicopter can be airborne in 10 minutes and, in a life or death situation this speed and agility can make all the difference. The timely assistance that rescue helicopters provide can reduce disability and improve survival – the sooner treatment begins, the greater chance of patient recovery.

The cost of this is huge. Your rescue helicopter has contracts with ACC, DHB’s and NZ police, providing approximately 50% of the operating costs. This means the remaining 50% of funding must come from the community.

Without your support, your rescue helicopter would not be able to remain operational on a 24/7, 365 day a year basis. This could mean a serious delay in people being rescued, or transported to hospital for urgent treatment.
