At 6:45pm, the TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a hiking track near the summit of Mt Te Aroha on the Kaimai ranges.
A 15 year old female, who was on a school outing suffered a serious lower leg injury. Due to the rugged area, the onboard Intensive Care Paramedic was winched down to stabilise the patient.
The girl was carefully winched into the helicopter before being flown to Waikato Hospital.
