At 1.45pm the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Waverley, a small town located in the South Taranaki District.
A 33-year-old male was the sole occupant of his vehicle and sustained serious head injuries after his ute rolled off the road.
He was cared for and treated by the onboard Intensive Care Paramedic before being flown to Palmerston North Hospital.
Shortly after at 4.30pm, the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Mangaweka for a forestry incident.
Due to poor weather conditions, the crew landed at Flat Hills to meet the road ambulance crew and assist with the transport of the patient back to Palmerston North Hospital.
