Motor vehicle crash on state highway 33

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on state highway 33, near the Eastern Bay of Plenty township of Paengaroa on Monday evening just after 10.30pm.

Several people were injured in the crash. The road was closed for a period of time with all emergency services in attendance. A 23-year-old male from Rotorua was airlifted Tauranga Hospital.

The flight was complete with the use of night vision goggles.
