The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter flew 6 missions over this period:
Saturday 27 May: A midday mission to the Ruahine Ranges, south east of Apiti, after a hunter slipped and fell, injuring his leg.
The patient, a man in his 50’s, was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Sunday 28 May: An afternoon mission to Eketahuna for a man in his 40’s, injured after an accident while trimming the hedge.
He sustained facial injuries and was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Later that night the rescue helicopter was sent to Mangaweka for a man in his 70’s with a medical emergency.
He was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Wednesday 31 May: A morning mission to Dundas Hut, in the Tararua Ranges for a teenage male who was injured after he slipped and fell while tramping.
He sustained shoulder injuries and was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
Friday 2 June: An evening mission to Ohakune for a man in his 70’s injured after coming off his mountain bike.
He sustained leg injuries and was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Whanganui Hospital.
Saturday 3 June: A morning mission to Tinui, East of Eketahuna, for a man in his 30’s injured after he came off his motorbike while on a trail ride.
He sustained head and chest injuries and was stabilised by St John paramedics before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital.
