The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a Truck vs Tractor accident near Wharepuhunga.

A light truck carrying honey, impacted a John Deere Tractor and subsequently rolled.

A 53 year old male from Te Awamutu was initially trapped in the overturned vehicle, before being removed with specialist help from the Fire and Emergency crew. The man suffering from moderate to serious leg injuries was attended to by Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter Intensive Care Paramedics at the scene prior to being airlifted to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
