The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to SH 25, south of Tairua, on the Coromandel Peninsula, at approximately 7:30 this morning to the scene of a car accident.
Two vehicles were involved, both with male drivers who were the sole occupants of the two vehicles. One of the males, a 42 year old local man, was airlifted by the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter, to Waikato Hospital with multiple injuries and in serious condition.
Also present where a large contingent of NZ Police, NZ Fire Service and St John Ambulance staff who assisted at the scene and readied the patient for transport.
