The on-duty crew for the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter had an early start to their Sunday. A critical patient at Taupo Hospital required an immediate transfer to Rotorua Hospital for further specialist care.
At midday, the crew took the opportunity to perform some winch training in a local area, making the most of the fine weather.
Later on in the day at 5.30pm the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter crew were dispatched to Tokaanu, a small settlement close to Turangi at the southern end of Lake Taupo.
A teenager had burnt both legs and his feet after getting into a geothermal mud pool. He was treated at the scene by the onboard Intensive Care Paramedic before being flown to Waikato Hospital for further medical care.
