The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Whangamata yesterday afternoon at approximately 2pm to assist an 86-year-old local man who had suffered a serious medical event.
Ambulance crew attended the patient at the scene, but due to the seriousness of the man’s condition, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to transport the man to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter covers the greater Waikato, Coromandel and King Country regions 24/7, 365 days a year.
In 2015 alone the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter carried out 504 potentially life-saving missions.
