On Saturday afternoon on-duty crew for the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter conducted a rescue operation requiring a winch extraction of two people from a motor vehicle accident on SH23 Whatawhata Road.
A car had lost control and gone off the road into a steep gully requiring a winch retrieval. The onboard Intensive Care Paramedic was winched down into the scene carefully bring up one individual at a time from the vehicle.
A female and male in their late 30’s were airlifted from the scene in stable condition. Both patients transferred to Waikato Hospital for medical treatment.
