At 2pm on Friday, the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Mount Tauhara for a 23-year-old female who had injured her ankle while walking down the track from the summit.
The St John ambulance staff had located the patient and put a call out for assistance due to the remote location, terrain, and distance from the road.
The Greenlea Rescue Helicopter crew winched the Intensive Care Paramedic down to the location, where they provided medical assistance before winching the patient and paramedic out.
The patient was airlifted to Taupo Hospital where he received further treatment.
